Valentines in your holiday let

Updated: Jan 16, 2023

What makes the perfect romantic weekend away for Valentine? A romantic outdoor walk through nature, a candlelit dinner, or snuggling up watching your favourite film? Well, we’ve put together some top tips on how to make the most of Valentine’s weekend during your stay in Bristol.

Set the Scene

The first thing to do to really get into the Valentine’s mood is to set the scene. Even when you’re away from home, you can easily add some romantic touches to any room.

Start with a lovely bottle of fizz or red wine, depending on what your preferred Valentines drink is. Either way, it’s always good to be prepared with drinks on Valentine’s day! Then set the mood with some candles. Beautiful for some atmospheric lighting, and even better if they smell good. Now top it off with your favourite Valentines’ music, and voila! You have set yourself the perfect foundation for a romantic evening.

RomComs

Whether you like to admit it or not, it’s undeniable that we all love a good Romantic Comedy from time to time. Enjoy one during your Valentine stay and snuggle up together on the sofa and enjoy a soppy love scene to really get that warm gooey feeling. Or, if you’re lucky enough to be staying in our property of the month, the beautiful one bed flat in the Golden Hill area, you can take a trip down to the Orpheus cinema on Northumbria Drive and see if they have any Valentine’s specials showing.

Food

The next thing to think about is a little treat for yourself and your loved one. There are plenty of lovely places to dine. If you take a trip down Kellaway Avenue or Gloucester Road, you’ll have the choice of restaurants or bars like Gloucester Old Spot, Di Meo or Lona. Also make sure to check the area guide in your property, where our property owners include some of their own local recommendations. Either way, you’ll be spoiled for choice!

Romantic Walks

If nature is when your romance blossoms, then there are several places you can venture to for a romantic stroll. The Horfield Common is perfect for a casual stroll and has the perk of its own quaint café for a spot of lunch or coffee. In Clifton, you have Brandon Hill which is a haven for wildlife and home to Cabot Tower, where you’ll have some great views across the city.
